At the celebration of the completion of The Oasis, a group of Wasp Nobles were murdered in plain sight by former Crab ronin. When called to the imperial court to explain their actions, the Crab warlord spoke for their actions and claimed that Wasp had become corrupted by blood magic. Wasp denied the allegations vehemently, demanding execution for the offending Crab ronin. The emperor, tired and old, took no action, sending Crab and Wasp back to their respective lands. Mantis, whose courtiers were present at both the killings and the Emperor’s weak proclamation, went to the Wasp to learn the truth. Wasp told Mantis that they were coming to the party to inform the Clans of Spider’s tainted oni lineage, and suspect Spider of hiring Crab to kill their delegates. Mantis secretly accepted an oath of fealty from the Wasp daimyo.
